Palace In Thunderland Announce Details Of Their New Album, "In The Afterglow Of Unity." After an arduous, two year long writing process, which was plagued by sickness, injuries, surgeries, locusts, random phases of catatonic introspection, Gary Busey, and overzealous tart toters, Palace In Thunderland have finally commenced recording their latest full length album. Entitled "In The Afterglow Of Unity", the new songs take a sharp and decisive turn from their past material, delving head-first into a more 90's post-hardcore, indie space rock, and shoegaze based sound. While still drawing inspiration from traditional sources such as Black Sabbath, Fu Manchu, Hawkwind, Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy, the band reached back to embrace the 90's influences of their youth for the latest outing, citing bands such as Floor, Quicksand, Hum, Fugazi, Swervedriver, Failure, My Bloody Valentine, Girls Against Boys, Smashing Pumpkins and Torche as all being crucial in furthering their ambitious sound. Palace In Thunderland is composed of four members whose unique contributions formulate the band's synergistic sound. Fronted by Andy Beresky (Black Pyramid) on guitar and vocals, he brings the same passion for writing earth-shattering riffs and haunting, memorable melodies, as well as his unmistakably massive tone and penchant for psychedelic experimentations. Monte Newman (HydroElectric) adds his expertise with exotic effects on second guitar, creating elaborate atmospheres and subtle textures while also handling the vocal harmonies. Adam Abrams (Blue Aside, Space Mushroom Fuzz) lays down the low end with his frenetic fretwork on the bass, and also plays the keyboards and synths. Matt Netto (Blue Aside) brings his signature complex, heavy drum sound, and also handles some lead and backing vocals. The complete tracklist goes as follows: 1) The Owl In Daylight 2) Beyond The Stars 3) Awakened Dream 4) The Distant Shore 5) Troglodytes 6) Deus Ex Machina 7) Pink Quarter 8) Decadent Decay 9) Before The Dawn Descends 10) The Absolute And The Relative 11) Soul Storm 12) The Sun Faced Moon Lyrically, the album focuses on themes of cosmic transcendence, higher consciousness, anarchy, freedom, and the various possible futures of human society and evolution. Recording will begin Monday June 16th at Sonelab Studios in Easthampton Mass, with Justin Pizzoferrato (Witch, Dinosaur Jr, Black Pyramid) engineering the drums. Further tracking will take place at Reverse Feed Studios and the Thunderland Compound. Monte Newman had the following to say about the album: "Finally…the Apostles are no longer silent. This album has been a long time coming. After years of separate musical adventures, we have taken our experiences and compiled them into this latest offering. Soon we will all bask in The Afterglow Of Unity. I for one am pleased with the reignited fires in the heart of Thunderland!" "This is the best the band has ever sounded, and it's the most ambitious material we've ever written. This is how I'd imagined the band to sound when I started it all those years ago, and it just took us this long to get to that point. We're going to take our time and do this one right, for once. In the words of Winston Zeddemore, 'we've got the tools, we've got the power," said Andy Beresky when asked about the album. A release date for the album has not yet been confirmed.
